Join Massmouth for the 2016-2017 storytelling slam season finale, The Big Mouth Off, to find out! After advancing through quarter- and semi-final competitions at Trident Booksellers and Club Passim, ten outstanding local tellers deliver true, first-person stories on diverse themes from "Wiggle Room" to "Animal Nature." Joined by special guest tellers and notable judges, this annual event is not to be missed.

All proceeds benefit Massmouth, a Boston-based nonprofit organization that promotes the timeless art of storytelling. Funds support annual programming, including story slams, showcases, workshops, and special events.

"RISK" STORY SLAM FOR CIC ARTS WEEK

Ever taken a risk that's paid off big-time? How about one that failed miserably? The good news is they're all equally good fodder for stories! Come share your best true 5-minute stories of risks – physical, social, financial, emotional…you name it – at the "Risk" story slam for CIC Arts Week!

CIC, a world-renowned startup incubator in Kendall Square, is hosting the slam in collaboration with local storytelling nonprofit Massmouth as part of Boston Arts Week. Doors open at 5pm for food, drink, and mingling. The story slam, hosted by comedian and author Wes Hazard, starts at 6pm with the night's featured teller, CIC Founder & CEO Tim Rowe. We will also be toasting the launch of a new local independent fiction publication, The Cantabrigian Magazine, with a reading from the inaugural issue. It'll be a great mash-up of business and tech innovators, storytellers, and literary mavens – in short, an evening of risk-takers.

What:
A story slam is a storytelling event where audience members become the tellers! Anyone can throw their name in the hat for the chance to tell a 5-minute true story from their lives on the evening's theme: RISK. A team of five volunteer judges will evaluate the stories and the night's top-scorer wins a prize.
